Fall Pest Control in Chicago — Stop Rodents Before Winter

Mice and rats that get inside during fall will breed all winter, undisturbed, in attics and wall voids. By March a single fall mouse can become a colony of twenty. Preventing entry in September and October is dramatically easier than removing an established infestation in February.

As nighttime temperatures consistently drop below 60°F (typically mid-September), mice and rats begin seeking warm, dry, food-accessible spaces — your home. Exclusion is the only long-term rodent fix. We inspect the entire building envelope and seal entry points with steel mesh, copper wool, sealants, and door sweeps. Common entry points: gaps under garage doors, holes around utility lines, foundation cracks, dryer vents, weep holes, and rooflines.

Stink bugs gather on sunny exterior walls in September and slip inside through window gaps. Spiders move indoors as outdoor populations crash. Cockroach activity becomes more noticeable as outdoor populations die off and indoor populations concentrate.

Walk the exterior in early September: check door sweeps, replace damaged garage door seals, seal foundation cracks with mortar repair or sealant, install steel mesh over weep holes and exterior vents, check window screens for tears, trim shrubs back from the house.
