Treatment day is just the start. Here's what to expect in the hours, days, and weeks after our technicians finish, and how to know whether everything is on track.
First 24 hours
After a heat treatment you can usually return to a normal sleeping routine the same night. After a chemical treatment, return once the products have fully dried (typically 4 hours). It's normal to see a small number of dead or dying bugs in the open as they leave hiding places during treatment.
First 1–2 weeks
You may continue to see occasional live bugs as residual products work. This is expected and doesn't mean treatment failed — surviving bugs will encounter the residuals while moving around. Bites may continue temporarily for the same reason.
Follow-up visits
Chemical treatments almost always include a follow-up at 2–3 weeks to catch newly hatched nymphs. Heat treatments often don't need a follow-up but include an inspection visit to confirm elimination.
What to do (and not do)
Sleep in the treated room. Don't strip the beds. Don't vacuum mattress seams or baseboards for at least two weeks — you'll remove the residual that's still killing surviving bugs. Don't apply any DIY products.
Watching for signs of success
Within 2–3 weeks you should see fewer bugs, no new bite clusters, and no new droppings. By week 4–6 activity should be essentially zero. Keep encasements on the mattress and box spring for at least 18 months.
